Welcome to the Historic Irvington Community Council's
Website. We have monthly meetings at 55 Johnson Avenue inside the Irvington
Presbyterian Church the third Tuesday of every month. You are welcome to visit
our meetings. They are held from 7pm-9pm. We discuss current topics that involve
the historic district of Irvington.
Monthly Letter from the President
Irvington Friends,
The Council is working on long-term goals; a road map, if
you will, of where we see ourselves going for the next five years.
Some of the things we are considering include:
-
An Executive Director to be an
active voice at City Hall, raise funding and have a hand’s-on involvement
day-to-day.
-
An invigorated Downtown
Irvington, getting Owners involved and working with other Irvington
organizations to transform to an earlier period.
-
To sharpen our Focus of an
historic neighborhood with a sense of family and village.
-
To Fund projects in Irvington
that will both promote and help our community.
-
To look at additional activities
that bring all of the Irvington organizations together.
-
To be the focal point of restoration and rehabilitation
of certain problem properties.
-
You have a Board that is willing to carry forward a vision.
Like all volunteer organizations, we need people.
-
Please come to the Council meetings and lend a hand.
Who knows, you might find it is fun!
See you in the neighborhood,
Jud West
