Irvington Closing in on Historic Status
Already on the National Register of Historic
Places, Irvington is in the process of gaining local historic
district status. To gain this designation, 70% of affected
homeowners must sign a petition stating their interest. This
would allow the Council to petition for this designation. Once
granted, historic buildings could be more effectively saved,
property values will likely increase and the overall community
will reap the rewards of being a historic district.
Currently, the Council is less than 300 "votes" short of
this effort. If you wish to volunteer to collect signatures,
or live in this area and have not signed the petition, call
Brian Boyd at 356-2551 or email him at brianeboyd2@juno.com.
